Rover Metro 1.4 Diesel Project (2)
|
|
15th August 2002. Below are a couple of pattern panels I
have bought so far, new Front Wings, and new front Panel incorporating the
slam panel and front cross member.

I have other pattern panels on order from the
manufacturers, pics will be uploaded as soon as the panels arrive. On
order are full sills with door steps, rear valance, rear inner cross
member, which will arrive in a few days. Also I have on special order both
rear quarter panels and waiting for them to be imported into England.
Though some of the original panels don't exactly need replacing as such,
they have a few bad rust spots on them and are being replaced just for the
sake of replacing them, as I will also be keeping the car for some time.
All this work on a metro I hear you all say! Truth is, even with all the
new panels fitted, it will still end up being a cheap car and this is what
this project is all about, by the time the shell is rebuilt it will be rot
free

20th August. A few more of the panels have now arrived (see
above pics). Rear Valance, inner rear X/Member, and full sill including door
step. Just now waiting for the final few panels awaiting to be imported.
With all these new panels fitted this should eliminate all the prone
rust/rot prone areas on Metro's. Originally I bought the Metro to restore it
on a budget, I have initially set a budget of £600* to buy and restore it,
this budget does include the price of buying the car.
(* = This restoration cost only covers the price of buying
the panels/parts with no labour charges.)
